As part of its 40th Anniversary celebrations, the National University of Singapore Sociology Department launched Sociology Singapore website in August 2005 as a web-presence project. Sociology Singapore aims to (a) showcase the Department’s activities and research, (b) encourage interaction between the faculty staff, alumni and students, and (c) promote sociological thinking and analysis in Singapore and beyond. It was relaunched in January 2007 as a weblog that would undermine the formal exhibitionism expressed by the phrase, ’showcase’. It is currently in the state of renewal to recover the original intent, to turn this into a journal of our academic everyday lives.
